What you can do with it
Connect your LinkedIn account to send messages and connection requests from SellAnyBiz.
- Message your connectionsStart a new chat with a link to the person's LinkedIn profile. If you are connected to them, your message is sent as a LinkedIn message.
- Reach someone newIf you are not connected, SellAnyBiz sends a connection request, with your message as its note.
- Let new people reach youIf you choose to, a message from someone new opens a chat here.
- Send campaignsAn outreach campaign can use a connected LinkedIn account.
Whose account is it?
The account belongs to the workspace. SellAnyBiz also remembers who connected it.
- Everyone in the workspace sees itEvery member finds the account on the Connected accounts page, with its name and its status.
- Everyone can send from itA member who starts a new LinkedIn chat chooses which connected account to send from. They can choose yours, and that includes sending a connection request from your profile.
- A chat is read by its membersA chat you start is created for you. Teammates see a chat only when they are members of it. Being in the workspace is not enough.
- Who can disconnect itYou can always disconnect an account you connected. Disconnecting a teammate's account takes a workspace owner or an admin.
- One workspace at a timeAn account can be connected to one workspace only. To use it in another workspace, disconnect it in the first one.
One choice before you connect
Before the sign-in window opens, SellAnyBiz asks one question: should a chat open here when someone new messages your LinkedIn?
- Off, which is how it startsA message from someone you have no chat with here is ignored. It is not stored, and nobody in the workspace sees it. It still reaches you in LinkedIn itself.
- OnA message from someone new opens a chat here, so you can reply from SellAnyBiz. You can pick teammates who join these chats automatically and can read them. Pick nobody and the chats stay with you.
- Either wayYour old chats and past messages are never brought in. Only messages sent after you connected the account can appear.
If this is your personal LinkedIn, keep it off. With it on, anyone who messages you and has no chat here yet opens one. That includes people you have known for years, and messages that have nothing to do with work.
You can change the answer later with Change on the account's card. The person who connected the account can change it, and so can a workspace owner or an admin. Teammates you add join new chats only. Chats that are already open do not change.
How to connect
- Sign in to SellAnyBiz and open Settings, then Connected accounts.
- Select Connect account, then choose LinkedIn.
- Answer the question about incoming chats, then select Continue.
- A sign-in window opens. Follow the steps to sign in to LinkedIn.
- When you finish, the window closes on its own.
- SellAnyBiz waits until the connection is confirmed. Then you see Account connected, and the account's card says Connected.
If your browser blocks the window, the sign-in opens in the same tab instead. When you finish, you are brought back to SellAnyBiz.
The sign-in link works for one hour. You can also start from other places that offer Connect account, such as starting a new chat. The steps are the same.
What SellAnyBiz reads and keeps
SellAnyBiz reaches your LinkedIn through a connection service: another company that keeps the sign-in and passes messages between it and SellAnyBiz.
- What is storedOnce the account is connected, the service tells SellAnyBiz about each new message on it, so SellAnyBiz can find the chat it belongs to. A message is stored only when it belongs to a chat that exists here, or when you have allowed new people to open one. Every other message is dropped.
- Messages you send on LinkedInIf you reply on LinkedIn itself in a conversation that has a chat here, your message appears in that chat as yours. A message you send there to someone with no chat here is never stored.
- Old messagesNothing from before you connected the account is read.
- Profile lookupsBefore you write to someone new, SellAnyBiz looks up their profile from your account, to see whether you are connected to them. LinkedIn limits how often profiles can be looked up.
- One-to-one onlyGroup conversations are not brought in.
Good to know
- A connection request can carry a note of up to 200 characters. The app tells you when your message is too long for it. You can write more once they accept.
- The chat stays locked until the person accepts. Then you can write freely.
- If they already have a request from this account, no second one is sent. The chat opens, so you can write as soon as they accept.
- LinkedIn limits how many connection requests an account sends in a week. SellAnyBiz warns you when an account is getting close. Requests you send on LinkedIn itself count too, and SellAnyBiz cannot see those.
- A campaign uses LinkedIn only for a person it cannot reach another way, and SellAnyBiz limits how many requests it sends from one account in a day.
- You can connect more than one account, for example two LinkedIn profiles.
- When a workspace has two or more accounts on the same channel, a chat shows which one it uses: the word via, then the account's name.
- Sync on the Connected accounts page checks your accounts again and refreshes their status. It never adds an account, and it never brings in messages.
Status, signing in again and disconnecting
- ConnectingThe sign-in has not been confirmed yet.
- ConnectedThe account works.
- Signed outLinkedIn no longer accepts the saved sign-in. Select Sign in again on the card. Any member can do this. The account, its chats and its settings are kept.
- ErrorSomething is wrong on the service's side. Signing in again does not fix this one. If it stays, contact us.
- RemovedThe account was removed at the service.
- Open Settings, then Connected accounts.
- Select Disconnect on the account's card, and confirm.
- In SellAnyBizChats that use the account stop working. Connecting the account again later starts fresh: the old chats do not come back. The app tells you this before you confirm.
- Your incoming-chats choiceYour answer about incoming chats and your list of teammates are cleared. If you connect the account again, the answer starts at off.
- In LinkedInSellAnyBiz asks the connection service to remove its link to the account. Nothing is deleted in LinkedIn itself.
If something goes wrong
- No window opensYour browser blocked it, so the sign-in opened in the same tab. Finish it there and you are brought back.
- Still confirming the connectionSellAnyBiz has not had the confirmation yet. If you finished signing in, the account appears shortly. You can keep working.
- Connection timed outThe sign-in took too long. Start it again when you are ready.
- This account is already connected in another workspaceAn account can be in one workspace only. Disconnect it there first, or use a different account.
- Finish the connection that is already open firstOne sign-in at a time in a browser tab. Finish or close the one that is open.
- Account connections are temporarily pausedSellAnyBiz pauses new connections for a short time, for example during an update. Accounts that are already connected keep working. Try again a little later.
